Volunteer

Members, patrons, and friends of the Society are invited to participate in the volunteer service program!   Friendly, energetic individuals who enjoy meeting people and working with the public can help in a number of ways.

Volunteers greet patrons and visitors, explain security policies, and direct researchers to the appropriate department.   To make the Art Gallery more accessible, volunteers provide minimum security and information about featured artists and their works.   Other volunteer opportunities include repairing fragile newspapers prior to microfilming, assisting patrons in using microfilm readers and reader-printers, making copies for patrons and staff, and data entry.   Volunteers receive thorough training prior to undertaking an assignment.

Volunteering at the Society is a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends while furthering the Society’s services and mission.   Volunteers receive recognition and service awards for hours and length of service and participate in Society social activities.

Persons interested in volunteer opportunities can contact Ara Kaye at (573) 882-9364 or by e-mail.   Please be sure to include your name, address, city, state, and phone number.
