Incorporated on August 8, 1881, the original plat for Greencastle comprised seven blocks. A series of fires in the business district, one in 1911 and three during the 1920s slowed progress in the town. The stores in the photo are identified from left to right as a hardware store, B.O. Terry's Shoe Store and George Vaughn's Nuf Sed.
