[Meet at KCI to wave a flag for area WWII Veterans] AND 10:30 p.m. [Meet at KCI to wave a flag for area WWII Veterans] Jackson County (Mo.) Historical Society and its partner on the Veterans History Project, Americans' Remembered, Inc., have collaborated on a special project you may want to know about. We've assembled a group of more than 40 local WWII veterans and are sending them on an all-expense flight from KCI to Washington, D.C., so they may enjoy THEIR memorial. The WWII Memorial was dedicated on the Mall in DC in 2004. This is an all-expense paid trip for these courageous Americans and our way of saying, "Thank you!" There are two ways you may show your support: 1) Come to the Southwest Airlines terminal at either 5 a.m. (YES, that's A.M.), or 10:30 p.m. (or both) to wave a flag for our veterans! 2) Contribute tax-deductible funds so that we may fund future Honor Flight(s). We already have enough veterans on our "stand by" list to do two more trips, but we need the funding FIRST. FYI: It takes about $350 per veteran to fly them from KCI to DC and to provide their meals for the day.
