Wednesday, March 19, 2008 Dave Dickerson as Harry HoudiniMarch 29 (Saturday) – 1:30 pm"Prelude to Chautauqua"Program in CARTHAGE at the Powers Museum, 1617 West Oak Street (old Route 66) "Harry Houdini" presented by Dave Dickerson of Aldrich, MO. This is the first of three programs to introduce local residents to the "first-person" interpretation style used by history scholars in the Missouri Humanities Council's Chautauqua program coming this June 25-30 to Carthage and Webb City. Mr. Dickerson will also discuss early entertainment to coincide with the exhibit opening of "Entertaining Carthage Through the Years" also taking place at the museum on the 29th. Houdini and his wife were part of the California Concert Company that performed in the Tri-State area during the late 1890s. Come visit with a fascinating character in history!
