Through the eyes of an artist, these locales can become even more intriguing than their real-life counterparts. Visitors to The State Historical Society of Missouri can see many nineteenth- and twentieth-century representations in Missouri Cities: Images from the Permanent Collection, currently on display in the Societys North-South Corridor Gallery.Missouri Cities displays photographs, engravings, lithographs, woodcuts, drawings, and watercolors that depict cities throughout the state, from smaller towns and villages such as Caruthersville and Hermann to the urban areas of Kansas City and St. Louis. Ranging in focus from single buildings to entire cityscapes and created by a wide variety of artists, the artworks and photos reflect both the diversity of the artists who created the images and the state of Missouri itself. Missouri Cities is on display until April 18, 2008, and is free and open to the public during the Societys hours of operation. posted @ 12:06 PM |
