“Use a Map with Care: Errors in Historic Missouri Maps”
On April 3 at 5:30 p.m., Walter Schroeder, associate professor emeritus at the University of Missouri-Columbia, will give a talk at the State Historical Society of Missouri titled “Use a Map with Care: Errors in Historic Missouri Maps.” The presentation will be free and open to the public.
Map users cannot assume that all maps are free from error! Join Schroeder as he discusses the major and minor mistakes that appear on some historic Missouri maps. To show where errors are likely to occur and how to identify them, Schroeder will use examples from the maps on display in The Stories They Tell: Understanding Missouri History through Maps.
The Society is located on the ground floor, east side of Ellis Library on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus.
