February 15, 2007 Society to Host Its First Missouri HIP Theater PerformanceThe Missouri HIP Theater (Missouri History in Performance Theater) will present “Missouri Places: Letters from the Land” on February 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the State Historical Society’s Art Gallery. This readers’ theater performance is in conjunction with the Society’s exhibit, The Stories They Tell: Understanding Missouri History through Maps. Come explore the geography of Missouri with voices from the past! Join playwright Mary Barile and her performers, Kate Berneking Kogut and Sally Foster, as they read passages from diaries, immigrant letters, and Missouri newspapers from 1819 into the early twentieth century, relating the experiences of travelers crossing the state.The Missouri HIP Theater will become a regular feature of the Society’s program calendar. This program is free and open to the public. Due to limited seating, pre-registration is required. Call the Society at (573) 882-7083 to pre-register.
