The State Historical Society of Missouri cordially invites you to attend an opening reception on April 22 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for the exhibition, George Caleb Bingham: An Artist and His World, organized by historian and author Paul Nagel. Nagel will give a brief presentation beginning at 4 p.m. on his book, George Caleb Bingham: Missouri's Famed Painter and Forgotten Politician, which was recently published by the University of Missouri Press. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Fred Kline of Kline Art Research Associates, Santa Fe, New Mexico, will also speak at the reception about his research into the attribution of a painting believed to be George Caleb Bingham’s Horse Thief. The painting will be part of the exhibition.
