Whether the Society's patrons are interested in the location of a city no longer there or even one that is still there, a river or stream that their ancestors lived beside, a fort, boundary changes in the counties, the development of roads or trails early settlers might have taken, the map collection of The State Historical Society of Missouri can help them. The collection includes maps dating back to the early 1700s. Most of the maps deal with the settlement and development of Missouri, North America, The United States, the Louisiana Purchase. There are also maps of other states, of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, of historic sites and trails, the U.S. Geological Survey maps for Missouri, maps published by Missouri State Agencies and others.
