The Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association Records were donated to the State Historical Society by Madge Landers on December 22, 1983 (Accession No. 2506).
The Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association was primarily concerned with the preservation and history of the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Rockville, Missouri. With the decline of church membership at the Pleasant Grove Christian Church, the Association was concerned about the neglect of the cemetery and decided to raise money for its preservation in a fund drive that began on February 15, 1976. The graveyard began as Meiers burying ground, and was later known as the Meyer Cemetery or the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The records of the Association consist of correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings and notes. The notes include histories of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church and lists of who was buried in the cemetery and the condition of the tombstone.
