The Suderow Collection was donated to the State Historical Society by Bryce A. Suderow on September 23, 1977 (Accession No. 2115).
The Suderow Collection consists of correspondence and lists of Sterling Price's Confederate troops taken prisoner at the battles of Big Blue, Little Blue, Ironton, Independence, and Pilot Knob, Missouri in 1864. Some of the prisoners were held at Gratiot Street Military Prison in St. Louis. The lists, compiled from such sources as the National Archives, include lists of Union soldiers wounded at these battles and treated at Fort Scott, Kansas.
