INTRODUCTION

The First Baptist Church of Versailles, Missouri, was organized on 13 January 1868 by James B. Box, William Robinson, John W. Williams, Josiah V. Johnson, and James E. Sims, all of whom became elders of the church.

The minutes are useful for their listing of members received into the Church but provide little else of any substance for researchers.

The First Baptist Church, Versailles, Missouri Minutes were transferred from the State Historical Society of Missouri to the Manuscript Collection on 14 October 1971 (SHS Accession No. 888).
