HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Columbia C.O.R.E. chapter was organized in 1959 and affiliated with the national organization in 1960.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

These papers do not adequately document the administrative structure of Columbia's C.O.R.E. chapter; however, the newsclippings and small amount of correspondence do recount some of the activities of the organization during the early 1960s.

The materials from the national C.O.R.E., while not complete, chronicle the evolving and expanding role of the office and the conferences and integration projects it sponsored, as well as the activities of the national conventions during this time period.
