The public records of a town in Saline County, Missouri, include city council minutes, school board records, and assessment and tax books.
The Miami, Missouri, Records were donated to the State Historical Society of Missouri by Augustus H. Edmonds, Ted Hamilton, and Lawrence Cott on 15 December 1963 (SHS Accession No. 230). Additions to the records were made by the Miami City Council on 28 March 1968 (SHS Accession No. 525) and by Robert Hisle on 9 October 1984 (SHS Accession No. 2540).
Miami was surveyed in 1838 and called Greenville in honor of a prominent family in the community. In 1843 the name was changed to Miami for a tribe of Indians that inhabited this section of the country in the early days.
The Miami Missouri Records consist of 13 volumes arranged by the group that produced the records and then chronologically thereunder.
