Papers of Gottlieb A. Hoehn, a journalist and labor organization supporter from St. Louis, Missouri. The papers consist of printed minutes, anniversary booklets, and programs pertaining to labor organizations. They also include articles written by Hoehn and some miscellaneous materials.
The Gottlieb A. Hoehn Papers were donated to the University of Missouri by Gottlieb A. Hoehn on November 19, 1944 (Accession No. 180). An addition to the papers was made on April 4, 1945 (Accession No. 224).
Gottlieb A. Hoehn first became associated with the labor movement in 1885 when, as a custom shoemaker, he joined the Custom Shoemaker’s Union of Baltimore, Maryland. From this point he served in several positions and joined several labor organizations before moving to St. Louis, Missouri, in the position of a newspaper editor in 1891. Hoehn acted as editor of the St. Louis Labor for several years and remained active in the labor movement.
The Gottlieb A. Hoehn Papers consist of printed minutes, anniversary booklets, and programs of labor organizations as well as articles composed by Hoehn and some miscellaneous materials. The papers are divided into three sections:
