The Adolph Nejdl Photograph Collection primarily consists of black and white 8x10 promotional photographs of female burlesque and exotic dancers, 1940-1960s.
The Adolph Nejdl Photograph Collection was donated to the State Historical Society of Missouri through the Office of the Missouri State Treasurer--Unclaimed Property Section on April 10, 2003 (SHS Acc. No. 5980).
The Adolph Nejdl Photograph Collection contains over 200 8x10 photographs of female burlesque and exotic dancers. The photographs are in alphabetical order by the dancer's stage name. Nearly all the photographs are autographed, often to "Al at the Grand Theater." Mr. Nejdl was presumably an employee or regular patron of the Grand Theater. This collection depicts a wide range of fashionable costumes, formal gowns, and negligees.
