The records of the Bower Brothers Store contain journals of the general store in Bethel, MO, owned by Theodore L. Bower, 1890-1902, and records of Walter C. Bower and the Bower family, 1895-1909 and 1919-1924. Accounts, names of customers and purchases are listed in the store records. The family records include those of the George Bower estate, collections of promissory notes and family expenses.

The papers contain a collection of newspaper clippings on Missouri, 1823-1868, from New York and Boston newspapers, primarily the New York Daily Tribune. Most of the items pertain to the Civil War in Missouri, 1861-1862, and include maps and diagrams of the war in the west.

Looney's Creek Baptist Church, Record Book, 1836-1894, (C3024)

The Looney's Creek Baptist Church was formed out of the membership of the Baptist Church at Pleasant Hill in Marion County, Missouri, on 14 May 1836. Worshippers met at the home of Caroline Looney and elected Robert Hendren and Charles L. Turner church elders.
The record book contains the articles of faith and rules of decorum in addition to the monthly meeting minutes. These minutes list new members received into the church.

Four diaries written by a Macon County, Missouri, farmer. His daily entries, spanning almost fifteen years, describe farm life, livestock breeding, social activities, transportation, illness, death, and daily changes in the wind and weather. Also detailed personal and business expenses.
