Patricia McKissack is an award-winning writer living in St. Louis, Missouri. She has published numerous children’s picture books. She has also written early readers, young adult historical novels, and multiple works of nonfiction. She and her husband, Fredrick McKissack, have co-authored biographies of many important African Americans. Their writings have informed countless readers about significant figures and periods in African and African American history.
