Annie Turnbo Malone (1869–1957)

A chemist and entrepreneur, Annie Turnbo Malone became a millionaire by successfully developing and marketing hair products in St. Louis, Missouri, for African Americans throughout the United States. She established Poro College in St. Louis and gave away most of her money to charities and organizations that promoted the advancement of African Americans.
