Mary Margaret Truman (1924-2008)
Mary Margaret Truman was the only child of Harry S. Truman and Elizabeth (Bess) Virginia Wallace Truman. She was born on February 17, 1924. Known as Margaret, she trained as a singer before becoming a writer. She wrote books about her days in the White House as well as historical accounts of first ladies and White House pets. She was best known for her series of murder mysteries set in Washington, DC. On April 21, 1956, she married Elbert Clifton Daniel Jr., a news editor for the New York Times. They had four sons. She died on January 29, 2008.
