The Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, women’s service organization for the descendants of individuals who aided in achieving American independence. The DAR was founded in 1890 and is dedicated to “promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.” Marie Watkins Oliver joined the Nancy Hunter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Cape Girardeau in 1904. In 1907 she was elected state DAR vice regent. |
