Col. James Thomas Carson, 1831-1911

Half-nephew of Kit Carson, Colonel James Thomas Carson was born April 25, 1831, near Hilldale in Howard County, Missouri. He spent most of his life in that area except for three years in the 1850s when he journeyed to California. He married Lou S. Isaacs in 1864. A well-known area farmer, he also engaged in the mercantile business in Rocheport and Fayette, where his death occurred in 1911.
